The artwork, Sugar and Spice, by Janelle Wagoner, just may have a sand dune made of sugar. Of particular beauty in this piece is the glistening of the sand on the dune. She has managed to suggest so successfully the texture of the sand as it sweeps down from the dune’s peek. The shadows are beautifully handled with cool and warm contrasts depending on how far they are from the grass. The composition is wonderfully designed with eye movement even though it is quite static and not complex. Great job with the rule of thirds.
